Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Rich and naturally sweet: Pecans and maple syrup create a smooth, buttery flavor that tastes indulgent without refined sugar.

Quick and easy: Just soak, blend, strain, and sip—no cooking required!

Customizable: Add vanilla, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice for your own seasonal twist.

Dairy-free & vegan: A wholesome alternative that’s completely plant-based.

Perfect for everything: Enjoy it in coffee, oatmeal, smoothies, or even baking.

Ingredient Highlight: Pecans

Pecans give this milk its signature flavor and creamy body. These nutrient-packed nuts are rich in healthy fats, antioxidants, and fiber—making this homemade milk not only delicious but nourishing too. When blended, they release a naturally sweet, buttery flavor that pairs beautifully with maple syrup, creating that warm, autumn-inspired taste.

Madly Delicious Must-Know Tips and Questions

Use the right strainer: A nut bag or cheesecloth gives the smoothest texture, but a fine-mesh strainer will still work if that’s what you have—it’ll just leave a few tiny pecan specks in the milk.

Soaking matters: Don’t skip soaking! It softens the pecans, making them easier to blend and giving the milk that velvety finish.

Adjust the sweetness: Maple syrup adds a natural sweetness, but you can reduce or increase it to taste. You can even swap in dates for a different flavor profile.

Can I make this without soaking the pecans?
You can, but the milk won’t be quite as smooth. A quick soak in hot water for 30 minutes can work in a pinch.

How long does it last?
Homemade nut milk lasts about 3 days in the fridge. Be sure to store it in a sealed container and shake before using, since separation is natural.

Let’s Dish: Did You Know?

Pecans are the only major tree nut native to North America, and they’ve been a part of Indigenous diets for centuries. The word “pecan” comes from an Algonquin term meaning “a nut requiring a stone to crack.” Over time, pecans became an essential ingredient in Southern cuisine, most famously in pecan pie. Beyond their traditional uses, pecans are now celebrated for their versatility in everything from snacks to plant-based milks like this one!
